LIVE ACTION: NEW YORK 10 The best in Scandinavian and North American Performance-Art
Performance art is on the move. In its second edition, Live Action New York 10 features some of the most important and emerging contemporary Scandinavian and North American performance artists in an intense and exciting event going beyond the mainstream.
Live Action New York 10 is here and now, it's ephemeral, it has attitude, it's fleeting, and it is avant-garde.
Grace Exhibition Space is pleased to welcome "Live Action New York 10
This is the second of a series of performance art festivals in New York City that focus on Scandinavian Performance art.
This year, the event is an American-Scandinavian festival, which presents artists from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the U.S. with a goal to strengthen ties and create an active dialog between performance art and artists in these regions.
The Artists:
Live Action New York 10 features 18 major and emerging Scandinavian and North American visual performance artists like renowned Scandinavian artists Jrgen Svensson (Gothenburg), Denis Romanovski (Stockholm), Rita Marhaug (Bergen), Kjetil Skien (Oslo), as well as some younger and emergent artists like Birgit Salling Hanse, Sren Dahlgaard (Copenhagen), Peter Rosvik (Vaasa), Maurice Blok (Lahti), Tomasz Szrama (Helsinki) and the Icelandic artist Magnus Logi Kristinsson.
Live Action New York presents internationally renowned North American artists Marilyn Arsem, Mari Novotny-Jones, Tony Schwensen (Boston) and Johanna Householder (Toronto). Besides these key figures in North American performance art, we have also invited the emergent but highly qualified artists Peter Dobill and Erik Hokanson from New York.
In this second edition of Live Action New York, the program presents various different styles and generations of performance artists in what will be an event going beyond the mainstream. We are sure that it will appeal to those who appreciate experimental avant-garde art and performance art in particular.
