Travel and meeting in person are at the heart of the international community of performance artists. In this time of the pandemic, the personal sharing of ideas and communication has been impossible. At the suggestion of Belfast performance artist, Sinead O'Donnell, during a panel hosted by Boston-based performance artist Marilyn Arsem, Grace Exhibition Space Director Jill McDermid offered to fill-in this absence with a series of performance art events offered live from around the world. Jill relied on the organizations she has participated with in the past, and a new organization in Buenos Aires introduced to us by Brooklyn-based artist Alex Romania.
This is not a comprehensive list of all of the performance art organizers and organizations around the world. This is a small fraction of the enormous participation of organizers and performance artists globally.
… but it is a little slice of our community, and we are all working together to present a beautiful, and challenging, part of our world. We miss each other, and hope some solace and feeling of togetherness will come through on these nights.
