Grace Exhibition Space proudly presents Macto Substantia Grisea*, the first annual benefit to support our upcoming programs. On this evening we introduce the opportunity for membership, and an exclusive opportunity to preview the new installment of The Alice Chilton Gallery in Grace Exhibition Space!!
New York City has seen a renewed interest in the art of performance with the Performa Biannual, the Marina Abramovich retrospective at MOMA, and the resurgence of venues offering new practices in performance art curating. Brooklyn is poised to stand with Boston and Chicago as performance art capitals in the United States.
This season we offer up a highlight of contemporary performance artists that live in the United States of America, as well as presenting a selection of international artists. Grace Exhibition Space maintains a purpose of glorification and support of performance art. Among the American artists featured are EJ Hill, Lopi LaRoe, Rafael Sanchez, Faith Johnson, Rebecca Jampol, Whitney V. Hunter, and Matthew Silver as well as Raquel Loloya [Philippines] and Moe Saat [Myanmar/Burma] .
* Macto Substantia Grisea is latin for Glorify the Gray Matter. Grey matter (or gray matter) (lat. Substantia grisea) is a major component of the central nervous system. Grey matter contains neural cell bodies, in contrast to white matter, which does not.
Tribute to Non Grata Group
