Luisa Nobrega
Luisa Nobrega, born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, majored as an actress in Teatro Escola Celia Helena (Celia Helena’s Theater School) and graduated in philosophy at the University of Sao Paulo. As a performer, she participated in events such as Periferias festival, in Huesca, Spain; Dimanche Rouge, Paris, France; Spa das Artes, Recife, Brazil, Performa Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil, V.E.R., in Terra Una, MG, Brazil, and Trampolim, Vitoria, Brazil. In april 2008, she took part in the Expeditio Francisco project (www.expedicaofrancisco.net), supported by Funarte and Petrobras. As an actress, she worked in collaboration with Teatro da Vertigem company. In January 2008 she took an extension course in GITIS, university of theatre and performing arts in Moscow, Russia. With her vocal experiments, she collaborated with the collective of contemporary eletronic music Al reves (www.alreves.org), with whom she recorded in 2006 the independent album menagerie.
Luisa Nobrega:Matthew Silver [NYC] with Hiroshi Shafer and Bogdan Szabo
In this performance, Matthew Silver will teach people about love. He will put the audience through a short self-help course that will potentially awaken their inner child.
Originally a filmmaker, has now put his focus on performance art on and off stage. Matthew Silver gets most of his experience performing on the street where he performs for tips as a clown/village idiot. He's been spotted at the Astor Place Cube, Union Square, Washington Square Park, and the subway L-line. He has also performed at local bushwick venues, Goodbye Blue Mondays, and Cafe Orswell.
Theo Pelmus [Romania/Canada]
Theo Pelmus is a performance artist who has received several awards, including an emerging artist grant and integrated arts grant from the Ontario Arts Council (2006; 2009), the Dennis Tourbin Fund for emerging artist in performance art (2007) and an emerging artist grant from the City of Ottawa (2009). He has exhibited nationally and internationally, including shows in Copenhagen and the Bucharest Biennial. Theo has a BFA and MFA from the University of Fine Arts in Bucharest and a second MFA at the University of Ottawa. He is an active participant in the Ottawa arts community, most notably as a programming member of Available Light Screening Collective. He is represented by La Petite Mort Gallery in Ottawa. Carlos Monroy (Colombia) was born in 1984 in Bogota, is a fine artist and performer, he graduated from art with two bachelors , one in Electronic media and time art, and another in Art History and theory from Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Colombia in 2008. After he came back from a one year exchange at the arts department from the University of Săo Paulo, he developed his thesis ›Performance Product Ltda‹ , work that allowed him to finish his studies as an outstanding student. In November 2008 He participated at the ›Septimo Festival de Performance de Cali‹, that took place within the activities of ›41 Salon Nacional de Artistas‹ the most important art event of Colombia, invited by the curatorial program of the Helena Producciones Collective. In 2008 he flew again to Săo Paulo invited by the Galeria Vermelho to the festival ›VERBO 2008‹ to show his performance ›La performola‹ or ›The perforbox‹. En 2007 he did his first two solo exibithions at the alternative exhibition space ›La Vitrina‹ located at the Universidad de los Andes. The first one, an installation called ›Jesus Flow project vol.1‹, and the second, a series of 4 performances named ›I see you kissing damn you look good‹. After this, in october of the same year, he was part of the selected artists in the first art-action encounter from Bogota called ›Primer encuentro arte-accion 27 al azar‹.
