O’Donnell originally from Dublin, moved to Belfast to do a degree in Fine and Applied Art. After a while he completed an M.F.A in Fine Art all obtained from the University of Ulster Belfast.
He is currently an active management committee member in Bbeyond, a performance art organization founded to promote and preserve performance art in Northern Ireland.
He has been involved in many international performance art festivals and events both nationally and internationally. Places like Trace intstallaction art space Wales, Mas Gallery Serbia, Le Lieu Quebec, BONE Switzerland, ARES Etna Foundation Romania,
Vertigo Alo Iowa U.S.A, Animal Gallery Chile South America.
His work is often of an auto-personal nature using found and made objects. Drawing seems to inform his performances/actions. Installation and video tend to be part of his practice too. He is interested in notions of gender and sexuality. Sometimes his work is ambiguous in meaning, abstract and conceptual
